With the theme, “Beekeeping: Pillar of Agricultural Productivity and Environmental Conservation”, the 10th National Beekeeping Convention cum Symposium was held last May 28-30, 2013 at Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur.

There were 26 entomology students from CBSUA and 89 beekeepers, would-be beekeepers, LGU and DA-RFU representatives, and staff from different Satellite Centers and other SUCs who attended the said convention. The first day was set for the opening program and the opening of the Bee Bazaar. Series of presentations from adept lecturers were delivered, success stories of beekeepers were shared and accomplishment reports of the Satellite Centers/Institutions were presented.

The socials was held in the evening of day one at the CBSUA Ecotel. An open forum followed after each presentation to clarify queries / issues raised by the delegates. A day of visiting the apiary sites of successful beekeepers in Region V specifically in Sorsogon, and an Eco-Visit to the different exquisite places of Bicol culminated the second day of the convention.

Engr. Orlando B. Balloguing met the officers and members of BAPI. The scheduled election of officers did not place as the body decided to retain the present set of officers until February 2014 when the next Convention shall be held at Pugo, La Union.

In recognition of the vital roles played by certain institutions and individuals in ensuring the successful conduct of the Convention and for other purposes, Resolutions were given by the participants to the following: (1) Hon. Proceso J. Alcala – DA Secretary, for the issuance of Administrative Order No. 14; (2) Hon. Patricia B. Licuanan – CHED Chairperson, for the issuance of Memorandum authorizing the attendance of Local and State Universities and Colleges in the Convention; (3) Dr. Apolonio S. Sito – NARTDI Executive Director; (4) Atty. Marito T. Bernales – CBSUA President; and (5) Engr. Orlando B. Balloguing – BAPI President.
